{Review} Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker

Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker
Ten Tiny Breaths #1

Publication Date: 11 December 2012
Genre: New Adult

Synopsis:

Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table. She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.

Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.

But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgiveable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness.

I Love it!

What I Felt
Ever read a book you are enjoying so much when suddenly a plot twist hits you so hard you had to double read what you've just read for the information to sink in? Yeah, this is the book--at least for me.

Ten Tiny Breaths was recommended to me by Emily from Bookish Diversion and I gladly bought the 3 available books in the series at one go. I did not regret my decision! Totally enjoyed reading Ten Tiny Breaths from page one and I eagerly read through each page and marvel at each and every characters within the book.

Kacey is a troubled survivor of a deadly car crash that took the lives of all her beloved persons--parents, best friend and... boyfriend. Now, the only thing she cares about is her darling sister, Livie. To protect Livie, both of them runs off from their home to rent a room in Florida. That's where she met a few other interesting neighbours and the story takes off from there.

The author did a great job in showing us the relationships among the unique characters and I felt myself relating to them. And when the plot twist comes, I went "Oh no, oh no, oh no..." and I felt for Kacey. Truly felt for her. I'd gladly re-read the book, once I've finished reading the other two books and will wait impatiently for the 4th book in the series. This is a series you wouldn't want to miss!

Conclusion
I'd totally recommend it! Totally!

  1. I've seen this book everywhere. But I'm reluctant to read it because of all the good reviews. What if I didn't like it? But I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
