What is Blessings in a Bag? I managed to grab a short video of the introduction by the founder, Emily Teng: 

Wait, you must be thinking why I posted this on book blog. Naturally it's book related! And for a good cause! Read on to find out!

On 1 March, me and my small group of 3 friends headed down to volunteer our time at Blessings in a Bag to sort out donated items. Many clothing were sorted and categorized into boxes which will be sent over for Philippines Typhoon Relief. In addition, there were tonnes of books in the mini store for walk-in purchase. We were divided into 2 groups: clothes sorting and books sorting. Guess which group I was in?

The 3 shelves on the left were children books and the next 2 were adult and non-fiction books. There were another layer of books behind the ones you see on the shelves, especially true for adult books. There weren't enough shelf space so we had no choice but to sort the rest in boxes. While sorting, many of us were reminiscing on the books we read as a child. It was pretty fun and we had some good laughs over some books! They were going at discounted prices! Like $5 for an adult book! Okay, so some of the books are second hand but so what? It's for a good cause! Plus, there are several brand new books and I spotted a series of Sophie Kinsella's books among several other notable authors'. So, Singaporeans, do drop by to support by grabbing a few books or volunteer to help! Oh, before I forget, best to check their Facebook page for updates, call for volunteers and opening hours!
