Goodreads Summary:
Damon Sinclair is a simple Marine with simple needs and after five years of active duty in the sandbox, he’s ready to settle down and feed people’s souls. But when the rest of his Brothers sign up with the 1Night Stand dating service, the opening night of his new restaurant includes a date with Madame Evangeline’s hand picked choice.

Helena Blake has focused her entire life on her education and legal career. But, there must be more to life than legal briefs and the Styrofoam take-out palace decorating the interior of her refrigerator. And finally, a year after signing up for the 1Night Stand service, Eve has found her a date.

Wine is poured, incredible food is served, and sparks fly creating a total seduction of the senses as Damon prepares a birthday celebration that Helena will never forget.

My Opinion
I love it when there are references made to the earlier books in the series because I want to read more about the characters. There were some references but not too much and there wasn't a lot of interaction between the past and current characters. *sigh*

The owner of the restaurant, Damon, had a date with a lady arranged by Madame Evangeline's 1Night Stand Service. However, Helena was running late and Damon wasn't very happy about it. So, when she arrived, and he showed her to the table, she assumed he was the waiter and he just decided to play along...

I find the scenario a little funny. An owner who was mistaken as a waiter? Can you imagine how awkward it was for the owner to actually correct her? I find Helena a little daring to confess about her experience and how Damon responded to that. Overall, the author did a good job again with the series. Hope to see more reference to other characters in the series for her future works!

Opening Paragraph:
“Needs a cup of Bailey’s and a dash of cayenne, John-John.” Damon Sinclair handed the large wooden ladle back to an assistant and moved on to check the cornbread coming out of the triple ovens in the back of the bustling kitchen. Opening night hummed in the kitchens with every swing of the doors as waiters and waitresses rushed in, dropped off orders then picked up piping hot food to rush it back out.

Goodreads Summary:

PFC James Westwood isn’t a typical Marine. As a clinical psychologist, he recognizes his band of brothers needs a helping hand after their return home from the war. When his boss, Captain Dexter, encourages him to sign up for the 1Night Stand dating service, Westwood committed himself. What did he have to lose?

The last thing he expected was a date with screen goddess Lauren Kincaid.

Movie star Lauren Kincaid grew up splitting her time between the cold reality of the Hollywood scene and her family home in Plano, Texas. After two decades surrounded by artificial friendships and inflated egos, her greatest desire is to meet a real man, not a Hollywood talking head. When her agent suggests a 1Night Stand date, the only expectations Lauren allows herself to have are discretion and exclusivity. What she didn’t expect was having a gorgeous psychologist with rapier wit blow her away.

Everyone needs someone to hear them.

James and Lauren share an unmistakable connection, but when one of James’ patients suffers a crisis, Lauren more than proves her mettle. Can one night turn into happily ever after for this Marine and his movie star?

My Opinion
Oh yum! I love the slow build up of the whole novella. It allows us to read more about the characters' personalities, which I really appreciate. (Because I'm not a big fan of characters jumping at each other straight away the moment they met).

The novella starts with a troubled man seeking the help of our main character James Westwood, who is a psychologist. James signed up for the 1Night Stand Service and imagine his surprise when he sees movie star Lauren Kincaid. I really salute her agent for the ability to encourage Lauren to sign up for the 1Night Stand Service. I mean... It could get really ugly when people found out about it, being a star and all. Luckily for her, it didn't happen even though it could get a little exciting. Their little date was interrupted when there was a call for James which leads us to a little crime scene of the unstable man. What will happen to their date? Will it end there?

Totally enjoyable with great story build up. I'd really love to read much more about James and Lauren. I think both characters are really great and have potential to develop much further. Yay for the author! I recommend this novella to those who enjoy a fast romance read.

First Paragraph:
James Westwood leaned back in the chair, one ankle resting on the opposite knee. Matt McCall paced the far wall of his office, shaking with restless energy. Most of their sessions began with Matt sitting, but he always bounced to his feet and started pacing within thirty minutes. By the fifty-minute mark, he looked for escape.

{eBook Review} Retreat Hell! She Just Got Here (1 Night Stand, Always A Marine, #2) by Heather Long

Goodreads Summary:
She’s one of the few…

Jazz has been one of the guys for over a decade, serving her country with distinction, but she longs to explore her femininity, to be desired as a woman, to flirt, cavort and fulfill every sexual desire. When her mother, of all people, signs her up for a 1Night Stand, she’s not sure whether to be exhilarated or pissed. She flew all the way to Las Vegas on the promise of a total escape, to be Jasmine for just one night, because tomorrow, she plans to re-up for another five years.

They’re two of the proud…

Logan Cavanaugh grew up across the street from his best friend and ‘brother’ Zach Evans. Inseparable, the two shared everything until a year before when an IED attack took out the Humvee they traveled in with Colonel Dexter. Zach suffered a concussion, but Logan’s injuries were far more extensive. After a year of physical therapy, he can walk, but he’ll never run or love a woman again, or so he fears. Logan seemed ready to accept his impotence until Zach came home. Now the ‘brothers’ are in Vegas to meet the perfect woman, the woman who can heal Logan’s confidence and masculinity.

They’re all Marines…

They’ve shared everything, but will one night be enough?

My Opinion
Meet Jazz, the lady who serves her country proudly but is treated as one of the guys. Meet Logan and Zach, both marines and best friends close enough to share everything, even women. All three of them are Marines and all three happened to sign up for 1Night Stand Service.

The story is definitely enjoyable. It is super hot and filled with steamy scenes. Although enjoyable, I find that there seems to be a lack of emotional connection among the characters. It starts with a little brief description about the characters and when they met at the hotel room--BAM--things get heated up immediately and continues from there. *cues lots of actions*

Overall, this is a fast passionate adult romance read, filled with lots and lots of steamy actions. This book is best suited to mature readers who enjoys reading within the genre and is comfortable with multiple partners.

First paragraph:
The toe ring felt damned weird. It rubbed, and despite the clucking of the woman painting her toenails, Jazz couldn’t stop wiggling.

Goodreads Summary:
Fulfilling a favor and executing a business plan, Luke Dexter arrives at Dallas’ Sybarite Club for a one-night stand. He never imagined he’d come face to face with the woman he left behind a decade earlier.

Rebecca Rainier fell in love with Luke Dexter in high school and was crushed when he dumped her to join the Marines after 9/11. Set up on a 1Night Stand by her business partner, nothing could prepare Rebecca for who her date is.

Can Luke and Rebecca bridge the pain of a decade-long abandonment, in one cold Texas night?

My Opinion
Love the way the author included a little back story to offer glimpses into the characters' past and what happened to them. Rebecca's heart was broken eleven years ago by her boyfriend who left her to join the Marines. It came to a shock for her when he simply told her about his plans without consulting her. She sent him letters even after he was gone but the moment she found out that he did came back for a little while without looking for her, she stopped sending any to him.

Luke left for a reason and came back to open a rehabilitation center and Rebecca just so happened to be the person in charge for planning its opening gala. I believe fate was kind to them. Even if not for the 1Night Stand Service, they'd have met at the opening gala. But that's besides the point, it was so much interesting to have met at the Club prior to the opening gala. I'm beginning to think that this Madame Evangeline has some psychic powers. I'm left wondering how would she know that Rebecca and Luke had a past and sent him that message before the two of them met each other. Totally wow. One thing that irked me was the fact that how Rebecca was quick to forgive him after listening to his story during their car ride. Nevertheless, the emotions of the two main characters were well-written and the story is enjoyable. I'd recommend this to those who loves a fast romance read.

Opening paragraph:
Luke Dexter handed his keys over to the red-corseted valet driver, his gaze skimming the generous globes peeking above the open buttons of her white shirt. The Sybarite Club definitely offers the Dallas area generous access to every pleasure.
